I raced the Randolph Triathlon this weekend, and as usual, the event was terrific. Paramount Adventure does a really nice job setting it up and getting everything organized. The course is great and while there's some stiff competition, it still feels like the local race that it is.
I had a great race and felt strong the whole way through. The swim course is a big clockwise rectangle in Randolph Lake. I matched my time from last year and felt good getting out of the water.
The bike course isn't hilly, but it's never flat. There's no opportunity to really find a rhythm and the combination of hills, descents, and turns rewards riding smart. The course finally flattens out with about 2 miles to go providing a few minutes to get yourself ready for the run.
The run is a mix of trails, streets, and sand dunes. Thankfully after the bike, flat as a board. I never seem to post a great split on the course but it's fun to try and hold off some of the really fast runners.
I finished in 1:22:19, good enough for 12th overall and an age-group win. For a complete race report, go
