Tomer,
I too have issues w/ the water....but rest assured that a wetsuit will make a very big difference! Buoyancy goes a very long ways towards leveling the playing field. I purchased a ProMotion wetsuit six years ago (model B31, sleeveless). The...
Hi,
Though this is not specific to the ultra distance group, I am sure many of you have useful information.
As the weeks flyby, I need to start thinking about purchasing a wet suite. I have read some info on the net, and also surveyed the differe...
I came uppon the following in a presentation about acclimatization for different conditions:
Heat Acclimatization
- Ability to get rid of excess heat improves with practice
- Sweat sooner, sweat glands produce a greater volume of sweat, and the s...
Hi,
When riding on the trainer I am usually riding with my hands rather high on the handelbards. Lately I have decided I should pay more attention to ride in a lower position and on the aerobars, simulating teh actual riding on the outdoors for a...
The 2010 Israman and Half-Israman races will be held Jan. 29, 2010 in the coastal resort town of Eilat, Israel. Israman and Half Israman are the country’s premier long-distance triathlon races. Each race features a swim in the crystal-clear waters...
The heat and humidity definitely take a toll on HR. Living in Miami and trying to get my runs in at lunch time (90's ++), yes it makes a huge difference.
However, it preps you for race day since you will be riding and running in similar temps.

Tomer,
I live in Michigan and it has been a very cool spring. Today was the first day with temp up to 92 and I did a 1:30 ride in the heat and humidity. I also discovered that my HR soared much higher than usual and even at a slower pace. I think ...
Hi!
My name is Tomer, and I lately started training toward the Israman IM at the end of January 2010. Though at this early stage I’m still undecided on whether I’ll go for the half distance or the full deal, I’m now on the 5th week of the ultra d...
Meant to discuss some different ways to approach the fourth sport in triathlon - strength training. With many different ways and approaches being suggest "out there", how is one to make sense of it all? Hopefully this forum will help.
Being 42 now, many years ago I was a doing triathlons just for fun. On the way I also completed two half IM with no special preparations, just because they were there.
Then got married, has kids (daughters of course – my wife blame it on the bicycle ;-)).
In recent years I am slowly coming back into shape, and finally have decided to take the challenge of redoing the IM distance. At this time I committed to the half IM distance, but follow the full IM distance program, hoping that nothing breaks along the way. If all go well I’ll go for the full deal.
Key Race for 2010:
Living in Israel, my target is the ISRAMAN 2010 which will be held in Eilat on January 29th.
Few words on Israman Ironman
The 2010 Israman and Half-Israman races will be held Jan. 29, 2010 in the coastal resort town of Eilat, Israel. Israman and Half Israman are the country’s premier long-distance triathlon races. Each race features a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea, a challenging climb up into the Eilat Mountains and a run through downtown Eilat.
The 2009 Israman has been especially challenging due to the worst winter storm which took place at the same time, and caused wind gusts of 100Km/h and sand storm. Many considered the 2009 event to be one of the toughest Ironman events to ever take place, if not the hardest.
