Meant to discuss some different ways to approach the fourth sport in triathlon - strength training. With many different ways and approaches being suggest "out there", how is one to make sense of it all? Hopefully this forum will help.
I competed in my first Tri last fall, a sprint in Devil's Lake WI. Had a fantastic time and decided to more Tri's Summer 2009. Competed in Olymic distance in Elkhart Lake, Half Ironman Spirit of Racine, and finished with Devil's Challenge last Sunday. To get a taste of IM, I volunteered for Ford IM Madison, and knew I wanted to do the full IM. I'm registered for Ford IM Madison 2010. My wife wasn't as thrilled for me, because of the time, but mostly the expense of the IM. She has challenged me, and I've accepted the challenge to train w/o forgetting I have a family, and to train on a very tight budget. Finding this helpful website with the ala carte on-line training coaches appears to be exactly what I am looking for. I do need to get a Tri Bike, today I race on a converted road bike, which works well but not great. I have a local tri shop looking for a used XL bike for me.
