What a great pic. I've heliskied with CMH 7 different weeks and we found ourselves in similar surroundings alot. My favorite place, though, was the Monashees, where everyone complains if they fly above the tree line. It's best known for its steeps a…

Hometown:

About Me:
Been racing Tri's since '86. Really love sport this sport. The excitement about racing season has never faded. At the end of the 2009 season, I completed my 200th tri at Westchester, which was also my 1st tri on 8/17/86. Have done 10 IM but never been to the Big Show to race. Have had my share of injuries and challenges, but although they impact my training/racing, none (except for a broken nose at IM LP in '99) are related to Triathlon.

I coach Tri and am the NY Regional Manager for Joe Friel's TrainingBible Coaching. I've been affiliated with Joe for about 9 years. I have a coaching company at www.inspiredperformancecoaching.com. For me, coaching is a passion. I coach athletes, and also small and mid-size business owners through The Alternative Board (an independently owned franchise). There's something about working with someone toward the achievement of their vision that I find extremely empowering. I've written some articles about how similar coaching an athlete or training/racing is to coaching or running a business. All of the same elements are involved, starting with a Vision and Commitment to achieving it.

I've been on the USAT National Board of Directors, am currently Age Group Commission Chair and Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee. I've also worked on several other USAT committtees over the years.

I coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and have been the Head Tri Coach for Team in Training-New Jersey for about 9 years. This is a really satisfying role since I get to help bring lots of new people into the sport and at the same time play a role in stamping out Cancer- a disease that we all have been affected by. This is the most fulfilling element of what I do in the sport!

Over the years, tri has provided me with a great lifestyle and an opportunity to meet some truly incredible people. How can you not get hooked on this sport?

Ending the Season on a High Note

Yesterday, I did my 200th triathlon at Westchester. The Westchester Triathlon was also my 1st ever triathlon on August 17, 1986, when it was a sprint distance race from Rye Playland to White Plains High School. In 1986, my training log says that it was a cool and cloudy day. Yesterday...well it was cloudy for sure, and raining steadily all day. Still, the temperature wasn't so bad so I never felt cold. My result was pretty descent; 5th A/G finish in a pretty competitive group (my last year in th… Continue

"Presidents' Week"

It's been tough for me getting consistent so far this season. After taking 3 weeks of down time after IM AZ in November, I got back to a descent routine, but it quickly fell apart when business started "getting in the way". I have to be thankful that business is pretty good in this environment, so it's really a matter of recognizing the priorities of the moment. Seems I string 3 or 4 good days of training together and then have 3 or 4 days where I'm totally swamped with business commitments that… Continue

Hi Chuck:

Are you doing the Eagleman in 2010? I see where it's one of you key 2009 races. If you are, and plan a trip to run and ride the course please get up with me. I live in Cambridge and will be doing the Eagleman for thre5th time this June.
It would be fun to get all the members of Open Tri who have signed up for the 2010 Eagleman to plan a weekend this spring and ride the course.

Hi Chuck,
It was an amazing trip to eastern greenland, we were ski touring in our climbing boots, it made for interestin skiing! I don't think I would be safe trying to navigate my way through trees as well, awsome!

I would love to hear more about your camp. I haven't committed to anything yet. I plan on doing the 36 week training program on Trifuel.com by Mike Llenardi. I could use all the help I could get so please feel free to send me information regarding camps, swims, rides, etc. Thanks.

Hi Chuck,
The race was tough yesterday. I did not do the whole race, I only did the run. Are there results up for me?? I'll have to check that out. Will you be attending any of the LP camps in June? I'm going to go for a week camp through Mark Wilson. See you on the road.

Carolyn
