Hi Mel I just raced IMC this past August. Absolutely beautiful race. You are going to love it. As you heard, there are two significant climbs, but (for me) they were overhyped. I did A LOT of climbing in my training. I live in northern New Jersey,…

Eagleman Race Report

Eagleman 2009 has come and gone, and I am very happy with the outcome of the race. The night before I sat with Jeff and tried to come up with a realistic goal time. I had a case of overtraining before the race, but I think I had a smart and effective 2 week taper to rest up for the race. The weather report looked promising, and we decided that a 4:25:00 should be within my reach. A 27 minute swim, 2:25 on the bike, and a 1:27 run plus some transitions should have put me right in that range.

So… Continue

TRI GEAR?!? Anyone size XXL looking for Tri Gear???

I have been working with the clothing company "Jaggad" this season and they have an offer on their website that states...

"Are you a size XXL - send us an email to enews@jaggad.com. because we have an irresistable deal for you!"

I'm not sure exactly what this deal is about, but if the size is right give it a shot. Let me know how you make out.

Ups and Downs in July

I went into July flying high. I had three very successful races and felt like I was only getting faster. Signed up for Rhode Island with full intentions on qualifying for Clearwater. I felt very ready for the race, but as you will soon find out, I'll be thinking of turkey instead of triathlon this November.
The swim was great. I love ocean swims, and this may ahve been one of my best swims in a triathlon to date. I felt very strong and comfortable in the water and came out in 27:05. Quick T1 (wh… Continue

Rhode Island

One of the hardest (and maybe dumbest) things I have ever done was turning down a Kona slot at Eagleman. Even though I can't afford it, I think I should have dug myself a little financial hole and signed up...Oh well!
In turn, I signed up for the new Rhode Island 70.3 to try and grab a Clearwater slot, where I can stay at the grandparents' house for free! I briefly discussed a game plan with Mike, and tried to stick to it, but fatigue definitely set in after last weekends workouts. The only smar… Continue

St Anthony's Race Report

Well, about 48 hours ago I was charging into the Tampa Bay en route to a 2:05:09, which was good enough for 1st place in my age group. I lowered my PR at this distance by 55 seconds, even though it wasn't the 2:03 I was shooting for.

I'm a little dissapointed in my swim, 21:42. I wanted that to be under 21. It just gets me when they put 3 waves of 40-44 year olds ahead of 15-29 year olds. So after maneuvering through some traffic, and not pushing it all out, I can't complain with that time. I d… Continue

Brian,

My suggestion for the tri club is to have someone talk, but after the talk the group does some excercise together. It is becoming a social club rather than a tri club! Can you have a person talk about running?

One idea is we all start together on an agreed upon run, and we run at a comfortable pace with the faster runners going ahead. We all turn around after 20 minutes, for example, so everyone finishes together.

See you Wed morning at the masters swim.

Take care,
Jim

Bryan. Thanks a million for the seat, the pain I had for the last 3 months was brutal.... I told you I could not ride the w/ the PCs for more than a minute in the drops (even when wearing 2 sets of shorts.) Just threw on the seat, and literally zero pain (in khakis no less... couldn't wait). 2 hours on saturday could work fine now. Seriously thanks. Big time.

Are there other beginners there? If not, I'll see you Fri morning. thanks again.
