Hi Mike,
I wanted to let you know that I used your endurance plan for IMC 2009 this year and was astounded with the results.
Last fall when i announced i would be racing a number of people said go for it, but quite a few were shocked not really ...
Funny enough, I have a race this weekend. It's a 36-hr adventure race, and the team I am racing with needed a female desperately, so I said I would go. I've done a lot of that length race, so I feel OK about it.
I had a strange thought the day after the race- "Now I can put my road bike back on the indoor trainer"- and I was excited! I'm thinking of doing pool work this winter too, but I'm not sure. I want to have a little time off (pob about 2 weeks) and then figure out what I want to do next year for races. I may be in South Africa right around the time IMZA is happening, so that's a possibility (late April).
Are you signed up for next year? Any other plans for next year?
LOL. I saw that story in the paper, and wondered how they found the people they interviewed. :)
I have been commuting all summer to UVic, and using the pool there. If I swam on the weekend, it was in the Cowichan river, against the current.
Feel free to contact me at kylaadams@hotmail.com, or feel free to give my info to the news guy. I had a great time at IMC, I didn't come close to my goal time, but it was a really fun day.
