Hi,
Though this is not specific to the ultra distance group, I am sure many of you have useful information.

As the weeks flyby, I need to start thinking about purchasing a wet suite. I have read some info on the net, and also surveyed the different manufacturers only to learn that there are many vendors and multiple price levels for each. In terms of differences it is usually quite hard to understand what are the advantages and disadvantages of each, and to which point it is useful to pay the extra $$$, and where the additional benefit per $ come diminishes. So any useful idea and recommendation/warning would be greatly appreciated.
Some useful information
1. The wetsuit shall be used 2-3 times a year in competition, and as required in training for the competition, as most usually the weather and water here are warm and wetsuits are not allowed in Olympic distance events.
2. Expected water conditions for the long distance event – very calm. It is a closed bay, and the wind (if any) is blowing from the beach.
3. I am a bad swimmer – really bad one (one of the lasts to come out of the water)

Tomer,
I too have issues w/ the water....but rest assured that a wetsuit will make a very big difference! Buoyancy goes a very long ways towards leveling the playing field. I purchased a ProMotion wetsuit six years ago (model B31, sleeveless). They're on sale now for $139.00 (http://www.wetsuit.com/store/products.cfm?category_name=mentriathlon). It's been a great suit. Don't get caught up with the hype...neoprene is neoprene (in my never so humble opinion). The one thing I do recommend is ensuring a good fit (minimal skin irritation because a suit can rub you raw) and body glide as needed. Good luck!
