Mike,

I'm coming back from a couple of strained quads (yep, two). I've used your plan three times for various IM races, but this year I decided to focus on a half-iron distance in November. What recs would you make for jumping back into the 36 week plan. I have been biking and swimming easily for about 4 weeks. I started running lightly again about 2 weeks ago. March 2nd would be the start date for my training plan.

thanks,

Kevin Smith

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for using the plan in the past -- I think it would also serve you well this year. What I would recommend, since you're focusing on the half-Iron distance, would be to start out the first 3-4 weeks with the International Distance plan, as a way of re-establishing the training patterns at lower overall volume.

Once you get past that point, you can then switch to doing the Ultra Plan, or continue on with the International Plan during the weekdays and the Ultra Plan for the weekends -- all depends on your schedule & ability to maintain the volume.

Hope that helps -- keep up the great work!

Mike
