Big fan of the program. I've been following it since December in preparation for IM Louisville on 8/30/2009.
Wanted to see if you had any thoughts on what to do with the upcoming July 4th weekend. My office gives me a 3-day weekend and I don't have any plans to travel this year, so I want to get a real quality weekend of workouts.
Any thoughts? Would you do 3 straight long bike rides? A "big target" session each day? Or maybe go out and destroy your neighbors at the local Firecracker 5K?
Thanks for running this site. The free training plan has been extremely valuable to me over the last few months.
Thanks for the kinds words about the site -- it's a lot of fun staying in touch with so many folks from all over the work...tell your friends!
As for this weekend, I would actually look to balance things out a bit while overloading the volume like you're planning to do. Something like this would be fun:
Day 1: long ride, open water swim (if available)
Day 2: long ride (70% of the total), short run (33%), short ride (30%), long run (67%) -- such that each adds up to your target time for that sport
Day 3: moderate ride (50% of the total), moderately long run, moderate ride (50%)
