I'm following the 36 week long course plan & have been doing the Tuesday bike and run separately (ie. early morning ride and lunchtime run, which works out better for my schedule). Was that the intention or are you supposed to do as a brick, like I am doing with the Saturday/Sunday workouts?

Also, on week 1 of the competive phase, the Tuesday bike has a link to the "Aussie Bike Plan" that is broken. Is there an alternative site with this info?

Many thanks.

Hi, just to clarify, during the weekdays the workouts were intended to always be done separately, such as before/after work, rather than as one continuous "brick". Bricks are explicitly identified as such in the plan, so if you have the opportunity in your schedule, always separate multiple individual workouts within a particular day with enough time so that you can be refreshed and focused for each independent session.

Hope that helps -- thanks!

Thanks Mike,

Yes that helps. However say for Sunday's workout in week 14, it says do a 45 minute "spin out" cycle after a 1:30 run. There is no mention of brick, but it seems like its intended to do the cycle right after the run, or do I have that wrong?
Thanks.

For that workout, it would make sense to flush out the legs after a long run. However, it's still perfectly ok to wait before doing the recovery/cool down work.

The main point is that a day with a run & a bike session in it, where they both seem to be at least moderately hard, I would spread them out in your day rather than trying to pack them in back-to-back, unless it says to do so.
